Job/Internship Description

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with almost 4,000 lawyers and staff in 30 offices, is seeking a Human Resources Intern, reporting to the Human Resources Generalist. The position will reside in the Chicago office and will assist with the day-to-day activities of the local Human Resources team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands on real-work experience in a fast paced human resources environment.

Opportunity: Paid internship. Minimum of 4 months or longer based on business needs of the firm

Work Hours: 20 to 29 hours per week (Monday-Friday, normal business hours)

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform general administrative duties including drafting documents and announcements, photocopying, scanning, and preparing mailings
  • Update the new hire orientation presentation and assist with orientation process
  • Prepare agendas for orientation meetings, schedule conference rooms, confirm catering orders, schedule training, and monitor/follow-up on action items
  • Track and schedule 45-day check-ins
  • Receive and respond to routine correspondence, emails and employee inquiries
  • Provide tracking and support for the employee recognition program, notary process, and ergonomics program
  • Perform administrative tasks in HRIS and Timekeeping systems such as Workday and Kronos
  • Maintain employee personnel files with new hire and departure paperwork
  • Assist with special projects, as needed.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Recent college graduate or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program; Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through university clubs and extra-curricular activities

To perform the job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to provide quality customer service to both internal and external clients
  • Superior planning/organizational skills
  • The ability to work individually as well as with a team
  • Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands
  • Basic knowledge of Outlook and MS-Office (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel)
