Position Summary Information

General Information

The Facilities Engineering Department is seeking to hire two summer interns to assist with several unique mapping projects.

Interns will be expected to work approximately 30 hours per week for 15 weeks. Position will be flexible with start and end dates. May be extended into the fall semester depending upon department need.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work will consist of a mix of indoor office environment and outdoor field data collection with the majority of time expected to be in the field.
1) Collect campus utilities data
2) Assist Facilities Management staff with additional GIS projects as needed

Qualifications

* Preference will be given to candidates that are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with major coursework in Geography, GIS, GPS, Cartography, and Geospatial Analysis.
* Experience with ArcGIS product suite (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, etc.).
* Data collection experience using advanced GPS units (preferably survey grade/Trimble Access).
* Ability to carry GPS equipment is essential (15-20lbs).
* Ability to work long periods of time outside in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Understanding of ArcGIS Online.
* Experience using Collector for ArcGIS mobile application.
