Join us as our new Lead Maintenance Mechanic

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager. The primary responsibility is to ensure the facility and equipment are maintained in excellent condition and working order. This is predominantly a first shift position, normally Mon-Thur (6 am - 4 pm), but with regular Fridays or Saturdays for cross-team collaboration. This position is responsible for troubleshooting all equipment within the facility to maintain maximum output with appropriate quality. In addition, this position will monitor downtime and communicate with facility Managers and Supervisors when standards are not met.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

  • Ensuring the facility, grounds, and equipment are kept in excellent condition.
  • Coordinating actions to ensure efficient daily operations and schedule adherence.
  • Coordinating scheduling, and assigning preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues and determine when to call in additional support from maintenance team or outside contractors.
  • Managing contractors for maintenance activities: setting up new vendors, training contractors, and ensuring contractors follow documented safety/quality policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that maintenance service is delivered in a timely manner to increase equipment availability and performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Collaborating with team members and stakeholders in all departments.
  • Learning, understanding, and following documented policies and procedures and drive others to do the same.
  • Creating and updating department work instructions and job plans.
  • Helping develop and improve safety policies and procedures.
  • Following Quality policies and procedures, including Good Documentation Practices and hygiene practices.
  • Ensuring that the proper tools, parts, and materials are available when needed.
  • Creating and adjusting stock quantities and reorder points for parts.
  • Ordering tools, parts, and materials and ensure that they are stored properly.
  • Monitoring and helping reinforce team goals.
  • Helping develop department KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), track them, and report out on them.
  • Executing any actions that may need to be taken based on that information.
  • Participating in and/or lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Building a positive team culture.

To succeed you must hold:

  • Associates degree in a technical field.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of maintenance processes, including planning, scheduling, storeroom processes, and experience using a CMMS.
  • Ability and willingness to lead and motivate others in a positive manner, including coaching others to work safely, follow work instructions, and achieve standards and team goals. Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.
  • Positive attitude is required, including a strong safety mindset, focus on continuous improvement, and respect for people.
  • Experience within the food/pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
