Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision by the Nurse Manager, the OB Team Lead is responsible for the optimal functioning and daily operations of the Labor and Delivery operating rooms. As a member of the Surgical Team, the Team Lead provides patient care during surgical procedures by providing an aseptic and safe environment. Duties include prepping and sterilizing the L&D rooms for surgery and delivery, transporting patients to and from L&D, passing instruments and providing assistance to surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and L&D staff during surgery. Uses technical and aseptic techniques to ensure methodology is in compliance with sterile standards and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Requires knowledge generally acquired through the completion of an Associate Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Surgical Tech Certification required.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires at least three years of previous experience with one of the required years of experience in admitting, medical office, managed care or insurance.

Customer service experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of team members and initiate change to meet targeted goals
  • Requires knowledge of office practices and procedures, of business English, grammar, spelling, punctuations and arithmetic.
  • Ability to prepare oral and written reports for presentation to management and staff.
  • Ability to prepare recommendations; to maintain records; to identify and resolve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills necessary to supervise employee; to act as a team leader and promote open communication and team building; to promote cooperation between teams in Patient Access Services; other related department0;
  • Able to demonstrate social sensitivity and provide patient-focused customer services when interacting with patients and their families; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees within the department and in other departments and with third-party payors.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility for staffing needs.
  • Ability to work independently and to make decisions.
  • Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to enter and access data/information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and web browsers. Experience required in Registration, Admitting, Precertification, SDK, IBEX, Bedboard.
  • Requires the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
